"I want to study abroad, to learn languages, to obtain specialist expertise." "I want to see the wider world and acquire a global perspective." Even if people possess such dreams, due to feelings of uncertainty such as "can I achieve something like that?"; or due to struggling with questions such as "how should I prepare for such an undertaking?", there are probably those who feel unable to move forward with their plans. With this in mind, an event recommended for such people is the Japan Student Services Organization's "JASSO Study Abroad Fair," which is held each year. It is open to anybody interested in studying abroad, irrespective of whether they are a student or already in the workforce. This year, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26th; the JASSO Study Abroad Fair will again be held at the Plaza Heisei in the Tokyo International Exchange Center in Odaiba.

The great advantage of the JASSO Study Abroad Fair is, in a single location, visitors can ask questions about numerous countries and regions. At the different national, regional, etc., study abroad consultation booths, in addition to English-speaking countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, there will be on-hand embassy and education-information provider staff from a number of other countries including South Korea and China, Italy, France, Poland and South Africa, etc. Visitors will be able to receive direct consultations from these booths.

Furthermore, there will also be a "Study Abroad Experiences Corner," where visitors can hear directly from people who have studied abroad. Of course, visitors can ask questions about the local environments and how these people lived while studying abroad. Moreover, by asking about how these people prepared before studying abroad and what they experienced afterwards, such an occasion would seem to represent an ideal opportunity for interested parties to paint a more detailed picture of studying abroad.

Also, there will be a variety of "Study Abroad Related Seminars" offered. Please ensure to check the website in advance for the times of seminars that interest you. In addition to being able to receive explanations concerning the study abroad systems of different countries and their associated procedures, it shall also be possible to hear about the English proficiency exams (TOEFL and IELTS, etc.) which are a necessary facet of studying abroad. Visitors may also learn about scholarships, etc.

As such, we welcome people who have already decided to study abroad as well as those who have a vague longing to do so. Why not come along in order to collect information? Who knows, it might represent the first step in your own study abroad experience?
