マイボトル

In today’s world of convenience, drinks are available for purchase virtually anywhere and are sold in paper cups, cans, and plastic (PET) bottles. Knowing that these drink containers can be recycled, some of you may still feel awkward tossing them away after using them only once. The “my bottle” movement supports such an eco-friendly mind for reducing waste and encourages people to carry their own drink bottles. Drink bottles are sold at living goods stores or coffee shops in a variety of designs and functions to meet personal tastes. Instead of buying a fashionable bottle, you may reuse a PET drink bottle or carry a traditional canteen you already have as part of the movement.

With your own bottle, you can take your favorite drink from home or buy coffee or juice at self-service coffee shops and tell them that you have your “my bottle.” More and more places now offer a discount (several tens of yen per drink) to “my bottle” customers. You may also take part in “my bag” or “my hashi (chopsticks)” movements. Refillable cup noodles and rechargeable batteries have been on the market as well.

We can certainly reduce carbon dioxide emissions and the amount of landfill waste if each of us continues to take everyday actions to cut down trash. Start your own contributions to our environment by joining the “my bottle” and other eco-friendly movements.
