CIFA was established in November 1994 as an association for promoting the internationalization of the regional community, as well as citizen-centered grassroots international exchanges utilizing the originality and ingenuity of local citizens. CIFA now implements a variety of activities. including providing opportunities for exchanges through culture and sports, holding Japanese language classes for children, adults and students, performing educational activities on the theme of international exchanges and understanding, undertaking activities in cooperation with international associations, carrying out publicity activities, and providing consultations.

Japanese Language Classes
CIFA provides opportunities to learn Japanese language essential for daily life, and offers a range of support for people of all ages to make their communication in Japanese easier. One-on-one lessons between teachers and studies are held for students and adults, and the Chofu City Board of Education is entrusted with the classes for children and schoolchildren. CIFA also provides childcare at the classes for requiring parents.
Exchange Program
CIFA takes a multidimensional approach so that Japanese citizens can enjoy exchanges with foreign residents in their own community, such that mutual understanding and trust is deepened. Especially, CIFA offers a wide range of activities, from one-year to one-day programs, with consideration of age and occupation to ensure the participation of numerous people.
Educational Activities
CIFA plans projects to increase the global awareness of citizens living together in the local community, via participation in programs that promote international and cross-cultural understanding through the appreciation of different cultures. CIFA provides programs for children on understanding the importance of multicultural coexistence, and courses for citizens regarding international awareness and understanding.
